Here is Jane DIXON in 1891 > > 1891, Yorkshire, Sheffield, North Sheffield, ED 30, RG12/3821, Folio 48, > Page 34, 9 (Robertsham) Street. > > Jane Ann Dixon, Head, Widow, 48, Living on her own Means, Yorkshire > Sheffield > Jane Dixon, Daughter, 7, Scholar, Yorkshire Sheffield > Hannah Hogg, Visitor, Married, 39, Yorkshire Sheffield
As you will know, HOGG was Aunt Polly's married name so it looks likely that Jane was her Ward in 1901 - although I have not, as yet, been able to make a family connection.
Hannah's husband (Charles HOGG), interestingly, was described as an Electrical and Mechanical Engineer in 1881.
It looks as though Jane's father, Christopher DIXON, a table knife forger, had died in Q2 1890 aged 48.
This might simply be the family network looking after a family in trouble.
David david AT roseground.freeserve.co.uk. Could be ward of Edward or "Aunt Polly".
