Note:
In 1841 John Doeg farmed in Doularg, Barr, Ayr with his wife Mary and children Adam, Susana , Mary, John, Jean, and James. In 1851 Mary was living with her son-in-law William Wilson. I n 1861 John lived in New Luce, Wigtown with his wife Mary and children Jane and Adam. In 187 1 John farmed 700 acres (100 arable) at Barlure Farm House in New Luce; at home were his wif e and Adam and Jane.

Witness to John's death certificate was his son Adam Doig. An extract of his testament reads : John Doig, 13 July 1877 - Confirmation of John Doig, Farmer, Barlure, parish of New Luce, C ounty of Wigtown, who died 4 June 1876 at Barlure aforesaid, testate, granted at Wigtown, t o Adam Doig, Farmer, Barlure aforesaid, his son, and Jane Doig residing there, his daughter , Executors nominated in Will or Deed, dated 19 February 1876, and recorded in Court Books o f Commissariot of Wigtown, 5 July 1877. Value of Estate, £321. 15s. 2d.
