![]() General Notes: Another member of the clan was Bob Doncaster who rose from school monitor to become Sir Robert Doncaster O. B. E.. . George Carrington also did rather well to rise from a stoker to a foreman fitter at what was to become the biggest railway marshalling yard in England. The 1901 Census shows that Elizabeth employed a servant, Annie Wilcox Aged 14. ![]() Chronology: In 1871-1881 he was a Railway Engine Driver living with his wife and children at Derby Rd, Sandiacre. 4 In 1891 he was still at Derby Rd, Sandiacre with family but was now a Loch Engine Driver. 6 In 1901 he was a Foreman in Loco? Works and still at Derby Rd, Sandiacre with family. His grandaughter Dorothy was visiting and his son John and his family lived close by. 7 ![]() George married Elizabeth Doar, daughter of Samuel Doar and Mary Hackett, on 23 Dec 1862 in Sandiacre.1 2 (Elizabeth Doar was born Cal 1842 in Shardlow 8 9, christened on 10 Jul 1842 in Shardlow,10 died in 1913 11 and was buried in Sandiacre Church Yard.) |

(email and family tree rcvd jan 2007), She married George Carrington (3419) on the 23 December 1862 at Sandiacre Church. They were both under aged (19 years) and the marriage was witnessed by John Smith and Lydia Doar who at that time was a servant in Derby. 3

George Carrington's occupation was described as stoker, no occupation was given for Elizabeth but her father's was stated as Labourer along with that of William Carrington, George's father.
