"Both Edwin and Robert travalled abroad. Edwin with his young son George spent 2 years in Honolulu - a paradise without trams with the golden trees over the streets. He also spent some time in Johannsburg, Sth Africa, where he made a lot of money and where young George was ill, His grand-daughter Mrs. Sylvia Parrott of Sth Caulfield has 2 of his letters. Although a notably silent man he wrote a good descriptive letter." Doris Hayball c1965
SLV DB "Early Electoral Rolls" has him living at Outer Crescent, Brighton (date?). Note that Hayball and Long have a connection to Outer Crescent.

Doris Hayball's papers state that Edwin married "Maud McConnell" but there is no record of this marriage. (Maud McConnell married Edwin's son Felix Julius Brattstrom in 1928.)
