Joel Hayball

  General Notes:

There is no real hard evidence to link Joel to parents James and Sarah but his age would fit and in 1841 and 1851 he is living in Coombs next door to James, also and Ag Lab, so for now this is where I've put him. Another possibility is that he is son of Phillip and Ann Forsey. Ann is close by in 1841 and it is possible that their John b1810 is a mis-transcription of Joel. John is not found after 1810.

Joel's ages are recorded as:
1841 - 25, Somerset, (c1812)
1851 - 38, Chard (c1812)
1861 - 49, Chard (c1811)
1871 - 55, Chard (c1815) - "Joseph"
1881 - 72, Chard (c1808)
1885 - 67, (c1817)

From an email received June 2014 "He appears briefly in a small book produced by the local Chard museum :- Joel Hayball 1838. Kept 4 1/2 miles of roads in Tatworth in repair @ 1s a day."

He worked as an Ag Lab in 1841 and resided at Coombs, Chard, Somerset. ¹ (close by many other Hayballs)

He worked as an Agricultural Labourer in 1851 and resided at Tatworth Tything, Chard. ² (with Elizabeth and Dinah - no sign of John, 10)

He worked as an Ag Lab in 1871 and resided at Coombs, Chard, Somerset. ³ withe Elizabeth, next door to daughter Dinah Bragg's family with great nephew John Hayball and family on the other side)

He worked as a Farm Labourer in 1881 and resided at Chard, Somerset, England. ⁴ (with Elizabeth)

Joel married Elizabeth circa 1832. (Elizabeth was born Cal 1810 in Chardstock, Dorset, England ⁵.)
