Gilbert Thornhill

  General Notes:

This is a tentaive identification. We have a 2 day old unnamed son on the 1841 census. On freebmd there is only one "Thorn*" male birth registered in Basford between Mar and Sep 1841 and that is Gilbert Thornley. There is a Gilbert Thornley death registered in 1842 which would fit with no 10 year old son appearing with the family in 1851. The only fly in the ointment is that the birth is registered in the March quarter which is a bit early to be 2 days old on the 1841 census. Considering there is no Gilbert Thorn* on the 1841 census and that "Thornley" was version of the name that Thomas was using at that time I'll keep Gilbert until something else turns up.
