3 Web (Misc), Email re Mellor. My George Mellor died 31 August 1870 Ballarat West at the age of 63. He had been in the colony of Victoria for 17 years, the cause of death bronchitis. The informant on his Death Certificate was none other than his brother Andrew Mellor, miner of Ballarat West. The parents listed on the Death Certificate for George Mellor (and also the parents of your Andrew) were John Mellor, occupation Cloth Dresser and Ann (no last name given). The children of George listed on the death certificate are as follows:

Ellen 35, Sarah 34, Andrew 32, Isaac 31, Joseph 27, Godfrey 26, Jane 24, Anne 22, John 20 and James deceased.

How accurate the above information is I am not sure, on Hannah Mellor's Death Certificate it lists the following children:

Sarah 24, Andrew 21, Isaac 20, Godfrey 15, James 13, Ann 10 and John 9.

Hannah died 1859 at the age of 45. She had been in the colony 3 1/2 years. Place of Birth Wooldale, Yorkshire. The informant was her husband George Meller.

I cannot explain the differences in the details of the children. Either Andrew Mellor (brother) the informant on George's death certificate had gotten confused and accidently put other neices on the Death Certificate. I would have to say that Hannah's Death Certificate is more likely to be the more accurate, being that George was the informant.
