"Born in Girvan, Scotland, in 1851, Mr Hannah comes from an old family of landed proprietors in that part of the country. He was educated at the famous Ayr Academy and was afterwards brought up to agricultural pursuits in his native place. In 1887 he disposed of his estate of Auchinvale in Ayrshire and came out to Victoria and after a stay of some twelve months in Melbourne purchased his present prosperous business in Donald with which place he has been ever since identified. ..... He is an active supporter of racing and is president of the Donald Racing Club. One of his horses, Dewdrop, has won many races throughout the country dsitricts."

Robert married Elizabeth Campbell Wilson, daughter of Dr. William Wilson and Margaret Doig, on 22 Dec 1874 in "Clachanton", Colmonell, Ayrshire.¹ (Elizabeth Campbell Wilson was born on 1 Apr 1851 in Scotland ¹³ ¹⁴ and died in 1915 in Donald, Victoria ¹⁵.)

Marriage Notes:

"Clacanton" was Elizabeth's father's home.
The witnesses of the marriage were M. S. Wilson and William Wright.

Robert next married Ella Clarice Walter, daughter of John Charles Walter and Ann Christianna Cresswell, in Mar 1917 in Kensington (Reg).² (Ella Clarice Walter was born in 1876 in Kew, Melbourne and died in 1954 in Hawthorn, Victoria ¹⁶.)

Note that Elizabeth's 1915 obituary said she arrived by the Shannon in 1887 and these were the only Hannahs to arrive on the Shannon.
