In 1861 he was living at Town St, Sandiacre with his aunt, Elizabeth Hampson, and working as a (?) Labourer. 6 7

In 1871 and 1881 he was boarding in Dale Abbey and working as an Ironstone Worker.

In 1901 he was living in the Workhouse, Nottingham and was described as a General Labourer.
