General Notes:
His 1817 will refers to him as William Doar of Stanton, farmer, and mentions his wife Elizabeth, his son William Doar "the younger" and "the farm in my occupation at Stanton". The signature seems to be the same as that for William Door, son of Katherine on her Letter of Admin 1814 - RB20050616.
Chronology:
On 31 Dec 1804 a Letter of Administration was granted for estate of Catherine Door to her natural and lawful son William Door. His reasonably elaborate signature on this document is more or less identical to that of William Doar of Stanton by Dale on the will he made shortly before he died in 1817. 8
On 1 Jun 1817 he signed a will arranging to leave 30 pounds per annum to wife Elizabeth and the bulk of his estate to his son "William the Younger". Both he and his son are described as "William Doar of Stanton by Dale, Farmer" in these documents.
In also signed a codacil to the 1817 will.
William married Elizabeth Hood on 9 Dec 1779 in Sandiacre.1 (Elizabeth Hood was born in 1755 10 and died on 3 Apr 1840 in Stanton by Dale 11.)
