In 1841 he was a Fisherman living in Kames, Glassary, Argyll with his wife, children, father-in-law, daughter-in-law and grandson, James. 6

In 1851 he was a Fisherman living with wife and daughter Margaret in Kames, Glassary, Argyll. 7

In 1855 at the time of his wife's death he was a Fisherman of Kames, Glassary, Argyll. 8

In 1861 he was a widowed Herring Fisherman living with his grandson Archibald in West Kames, Glassary. 9
