General Notes:
My ancestor Mark Glann emigrated from Nottingham to Australia in 1859 with Emma Doar, leaving son Mark Glann, and wife Sarah nee Allcock. Would like more information about son and Sarah Glann. His sisters remained: Mary Poole married Charles Poole. Jane Glann married George Hall. Is anyone researching this family. Father of Mark, John Glann. Chronology:
In 1851 he was a Turner and Fitter living with wife Sarah and daughter Emily at 5 Pratts Yard, Nottingham St Mary. 5
Mark and Emma and children arrived in Hobart 11 February 1860 on the steamer "City of Hobart" from Melbourne (steerage). They travelled from Southport to Melbourne on the Hilton. 8 9
He worked as a Farmer in 1866 and resided at Kinwarra, New Norfolk, Tasmania. 10
He worked as an Engineer before 1899. 11
Mark married Sarah Allcock on 4 Apr 1847 in Nottingham St Marys.1 2 (Sarah Allcock was born Cal 1830 in Barton, Notts 12 and died Oct to Dec 1873 in Nottingham 13.)
Mark next had a relationship with Emma Doar, daughter of William Doar and Mary Coxon.3 (Emma Doar was christened on 29 Mar 1828 in Sandiacre,14 15 16 died on 10 Nov 1903 in 220 Chapel St, Prahran, Melbourne 17 and was buried on 11 Nov 1903 in Kew Cemetery, Melbourne 18.)
