Thomas Newton Hale
General Notes: PHOTO (019_016B.tif) Thomas Newton Hale in the uniform of the 4th Battalion Infantry Brigade and taken before 1903 in Castlemaine. This photo was found in the album of his cousin Annie Bertha Hale and trhe back is signed by her with the date 27 6 03. On his later enlistment papers Thomas listed 3 years with this brigade ending in 1903 so even though Davies and Stanbury have the photographer Verey operating in Castlemaine from 1899 to 1900 it was likely taken in 1903. Chronology: He worked as a Commercial traveller in 1914 and resided at 91 Southey Street, St Kilda (Elwood?). 4 He served in the military from 1914 to 1918. (From Arthur Hale's record: "Brother: [11763] Lt Thomas Newton HALE, 3rd Motor Transport Company, returned to Australia, 3 July 1919") He worked as an Importer in 1919 and resided at Melbourne. 5 He emigrated from Victoria To Sydney And Settled There.. 6 Thomas married Florence Agnes Perrin, daughter of Private and Private, in 1908 in Kyneton.1 (Florence Agnes Perrin died in 1963 in Sydney, , New South Wales, Australia 7.) |
