Obadiah Lucas

   Another name for Obadiah was Shadrack Lucas.⁴

  General Notes:

Are Obadiah and Shadrack the same person? O appears only in 1851 and 1861 (next door to James and Patience in Ipswich) and S in 1841 only.

Looking more closely it seems likely that Obadiah's name was incorrectly copied as Shadrack from the original form - except for the first letter it's not hard to see"Obadiah" in "Shadrack"

  Chronology:

He worked as a Labourer at Iron Foundry in 1851 and resided at Dove Yard, Ipswich. ⁵ (note that this is the Yard of the Dove Inn run by Obadiah B Lucas b 1800)

He worked as an Ag Lab in 1861 and resided at Milton St, Ipswich. ⁶ (note that he is next door to James and Patience Lucas who so far seem the best bet to be his parents)

He immigrated on the "St James" in 1874 to Queensland. ⁷ (settled in the Maryborough area)

He worked as a Labourer in 1871 and resided at Bramford Village, Suffolk. ⁸

Obadiah married Sarah Pivett Jan to Mar 1848 in Bosmere &c (reg), Suffolk.¹ (Sarah Pivett was born Cal 1825 in Southwold, Suffolk ⁵ and died on 6 Jul 1895 in Queensland.)
