John-George married Caroline Mitchell, daughter of William Mitchell and Jane Caws, circa 1812. (Caroline Mitchell was born on 15 Jul 1797, christened on 13 Jul 1804 in Orange Street Now King Street-Independent, Portsea, Hampshire 1 and died in 1848 in Portsea (reg) 2.)


  Marriage Notes:

Caroline Mitchell (sister of Elizabeth who married Joel Hale) was married before she married Elijah Pine.
Aged only 15 with the consent of her mother Jane (nee Caws) and a Thomas Mitchell of Lymington (gent) as her bondsman, Caroline married John-George THOMAS. He was aged 21 (b abt 1791) and a purser on HMS Snap (a sloop captured from the French). It seems the crew were laid off in 1811 but he gives Portsea as his other residence.
(Hampshire Marriage Allegances). There is no consent from her father William listed.
