It seems improbable that Samuel was born in Lancashire as there is no record I can find of Hayballs there before 1841. More likely he was from the Chard area although no likely candidate has been found. There is

He worked as an Upholsterer in 1841 and resided at Atkinson St, Liverpool. ¹ (with wife Ann - both "Y" to born in county)

He immigrated in 1843 to USA. ³

He worked as an Upholsterer in 1860 and resided at Adrian, Michigan. ⁴ (with Ann, Martha and probably mother-in-law Martha Kirkby incorrectly recorded as Jane Hickby)

He worked as an Upholsterer and Paper Hanger in 1870 and resided at Adrian, Michigan. ⁵ (with daughter Martha and mother-in-law(?) Martah Kirkby, 83)

Samuel married Ann Kirkby, daughter of Kirkby and Martha, before Jul 1837. (Ann Kirkby was born Cal 1819 in Lancashire ⁶ and died before 1870 ⁷.)
