  General Notes:

1755 June 30th Walter Gray in the Ley and his wife Janet Halket had a child baptised called Alexander witnesses Alexander Reid in K(?)illhillock and Alexander Halket in Craigmills.

Alexander Gray and Mary Grant's son James b1795 was "designed" for his uncle, James Gray in Cantly, Grange. The Grange baptism of James Gray son of James Gray and Jean Taylor has James senior as "in Cantly". Based on this I originally assumed that Alexander husband of Mary Grant wass Alexander son of James in Cantly b 1756.

But then I found that according to the Fasti Ecclesiae Scoticanae Vol 6. (details of ministers of the Church of Scotland)
- " ALEXANDER CRAY, born about 1754, son of Walter G. in Ley, Fordyce ; educated at Marischal College, Aberdeen ; M.A.(Feb. 1774) ; ord. to Enzie 1st April 1789; clerk of Presb. in 1792; pres. by commissioner for James, Earl of Findlater, in 1793 ;trans, and adm. 13th Feb. 1794 ; died 26th Feb. 1823. He marr. 8th Nov. 1787, Mary (died llth Sept. 1815), daugh. of Robert Grant, min. of Cullen, and had issue Elizabeth, born 6th Feb. 1790 ; Alexander, born 2nd May 1792 ; James, M.A. (Marischal College 1813), born 21st Nov. 1795; Deskford, born llth Oct. 1801 ; Mary Jessie, born 30th June 1803, died in infancy ; George, died in infancy"

Miss Duncan of Broom (RB this could be Elspet or Katherine) was a witness at the baptism of Robert Gray, son of the Rev. Alexander Gray and Mary Grant at Cullen in 1788.
