1734 Dec 19th John Hacket in Craigmills & his wife Janet Gelly had a daughter baptised called Janet Witnesses Thomas Kiddie(?) man letters(?) in Brisgon(?) of Fordyce Alexander Morison in Glafsangh(?), Janet Rudd ?? aunt in ?? Thomas and Janet Gall in Landens(?). [note that a witness at the 1755 baptism of son Alexander was Alexander Halkett of Craigmills]
There was a Walter Gray who married Jannet Halket and had two sons, Alexander (Christening: 30 JUN 1755 Fordyce, Banff) and John and a daughter Jannet. The church yard of Fordyce has Jannet Halket's grave stone with Walter named has a farmer in the Mill of Towie. Jannet their daughter married John Black who started farming Ley at this time so he quite possibly took over the tenacy from Walter who then moved onto the Mill of towie? <http://sites.google.com/site/famstory/stories6>
From the above site "The gravestone erected by Walter Gray when Jannet Hackett died in 1783 still survives among the ruins of the old Forfyce Kirk." follwoed by a photo. Although difficult to read the headstone seems to say that she died aged 49 after 30 years marriage.
Considering the name of Walter and Jannet's first son it seems likely that her parents were John Hackett and Janet Gelly
Janet married Walter Gray, son of (Father of Walter) Gray and Unknown, on 21 Jul 1754 in Fordyce, Banff, Scotland.1 (Walter Gray was born before 1735 and died after 1783.)
