  General Notes:

There seems to be a reasonable case for Joseph being the son of Henry Hubert and Hannah Styles.

There are some discrepancies in the available record of Jospeph's age/DOB but the range seems to be from 1790 to 1776:
- At his November 1791 marriage he was not recorded as a minor (as was his wife). This suggests that he was born before Dec 1770.
- On the 1841 census he was recorded as being 65 which could mean anything between 65 and 69, or a birth between July 1771 and July 1776.
- His age at death is recorded as 74 suggesting he was born between Feb 1773 and Feb 1774.

Henry Hubert died in late 1772 so if Joseph was his son then Joseph's latest possible DOB would have been mid 1773. From their marriage date until July 1768 Henry and Hannah had at least one child every two years and if Hannah had been 21 at their marriage in 1755 she would have been well within her child bearing years until well after 1773.

For his place of birth we only have the county from the 1841 census and this only records that he was born in "this county", Surrey. The first few of Henry and Hannah's children were baptised in Westminster but for the last few we have no place of birth. We do know that the family had a strong connection to Surrey and especially the Lambeth area just across the river.

The Daily Advertiser of Monday November 30 1772 records Henry Hubert's death and refers to his widow and eight small children. We have only identified 7 of these children so far and an additional child is likely to have been the youngest based on the spacing of the others.

In 1791 Joseph married Mary Bee. Before 1797 Mary's sister Elizabeth married Samuel Morton Hubert. It seems likley that two sisters married two brothers

Joseph's occupation and social position fits well with the family of Henry and Hannah - described variously as a "gent" or a merchant.

The names of his children also suggest a link. The first, John Bee, is clearly named for his maternal grandmother and the second for himself. The third, Ann Bee, is probably named for sister-in-law Ann Juffcoat. Then we have Hannah, possibly named for Joseph's mother, maybe still alive and a widow of some means. There are some big gaps between the births of the known children of Joseph and Mary so it is possible there may be others. It is also interesting to note that Joseph's first son, John Bee, named his first child, John Henry.

Based on the above I will for now assume Joseph is the youngest son of Henry Hubert and Hannah Styles.
This is Joseph Hubert the Grocer. He could be the same person as Joseph Hubert of Hubert's Hotel in Westminster 1841 who was also married to an Elizabeth who would have been 38 in 1831 when Mary Louisa was born.

It is very unlikely that he is Joseph Hubert the Chemist of the 1848 Will. Even though they both were married to Elizabeths the Chemist's Elizabeth would have been over 50 in 1831 so unlikely to be the mother of Mary Louisa. And just to confuse the issue further there is also the coincidence that Joseph Hubert, the Musician, b abt 1800, married Mary Louisa Turner in 1850. She was also born in Lambeth and lived on until 1910. (Joseph the Musician's 1850 marriage certificate places him as son of the Chemist so one mystery solved!)

The following baptisms are of some possible interest:

Louisa Herbert Westminster 1818 daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth (trade)
Ann Herbert Westminster 1820 daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth (trader)
Elizabeth Herbert Dec 1821 daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth (fruiterer) (abode Hampton Court)
(plus James, Joseph, Sarah and more )

The last would almost fit with Elizabeth the daughter of Joseph the Hotelier and the occupation provides a link to Joseph the Grocer.
