General Notes:
Chronology: He worked as a Pupil in 1841 and resided at Finchley, London. 3 (His uncle Alfred is the schoolmaster - it seems likely that this is Walter although the name is transcribed as "Walter Maers. Finchley is only a few kilometres from Islington where his father died in 1832 and where his sister Emma is at an Industrial School in 1841). He worked as an Infantryman in 1847 and resided at Madras, India. 4 He worked as a Teacher before 1887. 5 Walter married Emily Margaret Walker, daughter of Thomas Walker and Unknown, on 17 Dec 1861 in Chesterville, Moorabbin (The home of the bride's father). (Emily Margaret Walker died in 1908 6.) |
