William Turton
(Cir 1771-1847) |
William Turton 1
General Notes: The disparity here is between William's occupation as "Farmer" on daughter Dinah's death certificate and the 1841 census and WT's death cert. showing him as Grocer and Shopkeeper/Shoemaker. He was already 70 in 1841 so it is possible he was a farmer earlier. Also the informant on DT's death cert was John Clarke who may not have known Chronology: He worked as a Grocer & Bootmaker in 1834 and resided at Denby, Yorkshire. 5 He worked as a Grocer in 1841 and resided at Low Denby, West Yorkshire. 6 In 1847 at the time of his death he was described as a Shoemaker and Shopkeeper of Denby, Yorkshire. George Turton of Denby, probably his son was "present at the death". 4 His daughter Dinah's death certificate described her father as being a Farmer. 7 8 He had an estate probated (Turton, William of Low Denby P. Penistone T. 100.) in Jan 1848 in Archbishop of York: Exchequer Court & Prerogative (PCY) Court. 9 William married Mary Beaumont, daughter of Thomas Beaumont, about 1794. (Mary Beaumont was born about 1772 in West Yorkshire 6, christened on 20 Sep 1772 in Almondbury 10 and died on 31 May 1850 in Township Denby, Yorkshire 4 11.) |
