  Death Notes:

"Mrs Doar's grave is nearby [her husband's grave]. She taught at several local schools, including Tikokino and Blackburn, and was held in very high regard by pupils, parents and School Inspectors. She died in 1920, and buried near her and her husband is their grandchild, infant daughter of Emmellette Morrison."

1865 ? she trained as a schoolteacher at Diocesan College, Derbyshire. 7

From 1865-1874 she taught in various schools. Details are in the family document sent from NZ to GL. 7

She worked as a Head School Mistress 1878 to 1881 and resided at Riverton District High School. 7

She worked as a Head Mistress from 1882 to 1900 and resided at the Hawkes Bay area of New Zealand. 8 9

Miss MANN resigned as mistress of infant school, Mrs DOAR was appointed in her position.

Present Messrs LAWS, LARGE, SPRIGGS, CARNELL. The resignation of Mrs DOAR of her position as first mistress was accepted, and it was decided to advertise for applications in the local papers.

Sewing was a specialty under Mrs Jane DOAR (Teacher 1883-1889.)

In 1900 she returned to the Farm at Blackburn because of ill health. 7

16 Chris Andrew (candrew AT kingston.net), "Next to them is Joseph Doar, Lilian's father, who, with his wife and children, had emigrated from Derbyshire, England. He died in 1898 at Pendle Hill when the river was in full flood. As there was no way of getting in or out, he was buried without the assistance of a Minister of the Church, but nevertheless in a Godly manner."
