  Chronology:

In 1891 he was a Blast Furnace Labourer living at Weavers Row No 2, Ilkeston with his wife and family. 4 5

In 1893 Fred Doar, 33, Fireman or Iron Worker, late of Nottingham arrived in the USA bound for New Philadelphia, Ohio ("to sister Mrs Bankcroft"). 6

In 1900 he was boarding with William and Jane? Bancroft and their two children in Niles City, Ohio, USA. 7 8

In 1910 there is a Frederick Dore (age UNK, birthplace OHIO, parents' birthplace UNK) boarding and working as a Coal Miner in Pike Township, Stark Co, Ohio which is not too far from Niles. 9

In 1910 his daughter's arrival documents indicate that he may have been residing in NY although it is possible that she was bound for this NY address close to where she settled as a domestic servant and had put her father's name against it. 10

In 1920 he was a Labourer, Steel Mill boarding with Fred B?acker and family in Niles City, trumbull CO, Ohio, USA. 11

In the 1930 US census he has not been found possibly dying in the 1920s in his 60s. 12

8 Chris Andrew (candrew AT kingston.net), Working with all of the info we found last night, I think we can say
that the Bancrofts were from the Ilkeston area. Attached is the WWI
draft card for their son William Henry where he says he was born in
Ilkeston. He did not provide next of kin information which leads me to
think that a) his parents had died or b) left the country, since I
cannot find them in 1920. William is not on the 1930 census, as far as
I can tell.

They apparently emigrated about 1889 so do not appear on the 1891 UK
census. In 1910 the names were William and Jane. I found a couple in
1881 who seem to fit.

Free BMD gives us the following:

Marriages Dec 1882
BANCROFT William Shardlow 7b 847
BROADHURST Samuel David Shardlow 7b 847
CLIFFORD Millicent Phoebe Shardlow 7b 847
PERRY Jane Shardlow 7b 847

Samuel Broadhurst and Millicent are on the 1891 census, thus eliminating
them.

I wanted to try to figure out who these people were as I felt that
either a friend or a sister would have been geographically connected to
Frederick Doar and we should be able to find something in an earlier census.

The children named in the 1900 census were Gertrude and William BANCROFT.

Births Dec 1885 BANCROFT Gertrude Lizzie Basford 7b 135
Births Jun 1887 BANCROFT William Henry Basford 7b 164

I didn't find Gertrude after 1900. She appears to have married as the
Bancrofts have a grandchild with them in 1910.
