HAYBALLS at the BEACH
Prince of Wales Birthday 1886

|
The reverse of the photograph indicates it was taken at Sandringham on the Prince of Wales Birthday (public holiday?) on 9th Nov 1886. The caption mentions "Tots Hailes, the Nipper & D(r) Pobjoy" along with a number of Hayballs. "Tots" was Carrie Hale and it is likely that "The Nipper" was her sister Annie Bertha, probably the girl up the tree in a dress similar to her sister's. "Dr Pobjoy" is a mystery. Could it be a pet name for TM Hale? We also seem to have one too many boys. |

The reverse of this photograph is captioned "Sandingham January 1st 1887" |
Sandringham (?) 1892

|
The bottom of this photograph has what looks like "H Shaw" added (with the "S" inside the "H"). It was from Carrie Shaw's album so maybe it was added by husband or son Herbert? |
